When you’re celebrating one significant birthday that’s always great fun but to celebrate two means that you’ve got to treat yourselves and a meal at the very lovely Morston Hall is definitely a great idea.

Morston Hall sits in the village of Morston on the North Norfolk coast. Morston is famous as the place to set off from on a seal watching trip to Blakeney point and is a very beautiful village to stop in for a quick stroll. Morston Hall is a beautiful place to stay and eat and is set in some lovely gardens in the centre of the village. I met up with a lovely group of ladies from an extended family to celebrate two birthdays in style with a great lunch.

The photography started with everyone’s arrival at Morston Hall including that of the eldest member who is a great grandmother not too far off receiving a telegram from the Queen. There were laughs and giggles from the outset and it was tremendous fun being in the company of the ladies as they reunited for the celebrations. As it was a little cool the group headed into the Hall’s lovely conservatory for a few drinks prior to their meal and I photographed the ladies naturally having more fun together before then going outside for a few more formal photographs of them as a group.

A great sunny afternoon in Morston and what better treat for a birthday treat with all the girls from a family than a great meal at Morston Hall.

I hope you enjoy some of the photographs.

In a departure from the normal I was commissioned recently as part of a portrait voucher gift to photograph a horse for her owner. As it transpired the shoot took place in secret to keep the gift from it’s owner until she had returned from a lovely holiday. In a further twist the lovely lady horse concerned has a best friend another lovely male horse who spends his time with her in their adjoining stables when not out and about in the field or going for a ride. We took both horses out for a walk, a lifestyle session if we must and took some photographs. Using a lovely sunny day we had great fun and were treated to an even better sunset.

Together both horses were really well behaved, posed wonderfully for the camera and although a little perplexed made for great models.

If you have an equine shoot planned please visit http://www.norfolkpetphotography.co.uk where my equine and canine photography with fellow local photographer John Harris is displayed and get in touch with us if you’d like some horse photography.

Every so often I’m asked to provide a portrait photography session for a large family with the aim of giving a special someone a lovely gift on their birthday. Family photographs make great presents that you know will be cherished by the recipient, and what better gift to give a grandmother or father than lots of lovely photographs of their family.

On this occasion I was to photograph 10 grandchildren aged from 2-18. I’m quite used to photographing larger family groups so quite enjoy the challenge of trying to wrangle both more formal photographs and candid photographs from a session even with a lot of people. The weather was a little less than ideal, but we decided to forge ahead as the special birthday was looming near and the weather forecast wasn’t showing a significant improvement in the very near future.

We headed to Winterton beach as it’s a family favourite, and the bonus of the beach environment is that it looks good year round, has well drained sand and provides you with a beautiful colour palette to work with in addition to beautifully weathered coastal features to utilise.

The main aim was to obtain photographs of all the grandchildren but well the adults who came along couldn’t resist the chance to get some photographs with their children so we photographed everyone. I hope you like some of the photographs from the session.

Every year I love to meet families visiting Norfolk when I am commissioned to photograph them on their holiday, and in fact you could say that I’m often a norfolk holiday photographer. There’s plenty to chat about recommending various places to visit and various eateries and it’s the perfect time to be photographed stress free and naturally relaxed. Norfolk is such a photogenic county that it’s the perfect backdrop to shoots and has plenty of beaches and gorgeous accommodation for us to use.

I recently approached Norfolk Country Cottages who offer not only the biggest service to holiday makers with their extensive list of excellent properties but also introduce their clients to local businesses with their Holiday Treats offer. I’m glad to say that I’m now working together with Norfolk Country Cottages to offer a discount on portrait products to their clients and hope to meet lots of new faces this year taking advantage of all this beautiful county has to offer.

I often photograph holidaying clients at their accommodation, on location at the beach, or at one of Norfolk’s lovely parks so get in touch and we can discuss your session.

Here’s a couple of screen grabs from Norfolk Country Cottages website for more on their offers and their lovely accommodation click this link NORFOLK COUNTRY COTTAGES.

A holiday in Norfolk or Suffolk promises lovely countryside, lots of beaches, probably a nice cottage or hotel to stay in, and plenty of places to visit and activities to do.

I’m very lucky in that living in Norfolk within easy reach of both the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline I get to meet lots of clients as they take a relaxing holiday with family and often friends. Holiday for me as I’m sure it is for most people is cherished time with my family having escaped from any ordinary routine, and is a time to take stock, recharge batteries and spend time with the people you love.

It’s probably for this reason that lots of people think about recording a bit of stress free family time while on holiday by having a photo shoot, and the countryside and beaches of Norfolk and Suffolk lend themselves to being a wonderful backdrop to beautiful memories and are a great place to be a photographer.

If you’re planning a trip to Norfolk or Suffolk get in touch, often I introduce people to lovely places they may have overlooked or not known about on their visit and I love to share my knowledge of the beautiful local countryside with visitors. I often visit the following areas of Hunstanton, Holkham, Wells next the Sea, Cromer, Sheringham, Blickling, Happisburgh, Winterton, Southwold and Aldeburgh.

As far as great holiday activities go, a portrait shoot is often considered great fun by children and I’ll often make sure that we visit places where even self-conscious parents will be able to relax and have some fun.

Here’s a few images from past holiday shoots in Norfolk and Suffolk.
