It was more than a little bit of an adventure heading to the beach for some family photography on what can only be described as quite an inclement day. I didn’t know at that time that I was dealing with an indomitable family, who positively enjoy a bit of time on the beach whatever the weather. On this occasion it was very windy, and as I drove to my regular stomping ground as a North Norfolk Photographer trees bounced around a little more than I’d ever witnessed before. The family were staying in local Burnham Overy Staithe, so gratefully knew all too well what the weather on the North Norfolk coast was doing on that particular day.

Imagine my slight alarm then when not only did the family want to take on the rather wet and windy beach but did so with kites in hand. Kites, on a very windy day, I was slightly incredulous, but apparently it was a tradition, and I was soon to be educated in the art of family kite flying in strong winds. In all seriousness, whatever the weather the environment of North Norfolk’s beaches can be beautiful, not only a place for the camera, but also for the soul and imagination. We trudged through mud, hopped over streams of sea water, got blown about on the beach, had sand thrown at us by the wind, flew kites and almost took off with them, lost a kite for a short while and had a great time.

I hope these photographs show an adventurous, indomitable family having fun, a little excerpt in their lives, a bit of a glow on the cheek, and certainly no cobwebs left after being on the beach- great fun!

Here comes the sun, and the daffodils, it’s meant to be winter and well the Spring is springing. It’s bursting out everywhere and well I blame the couple I recently photographed. During our lifestyle session to mark their first wedding anniversary, wherever they trod daffodils sprang up from the ground, birds started singing-it was very Disney.

But in all seriousness one of the joys of being a photographer, and particularly a Norwich Photographer is that even in the depths of winter a couple can come along and warm your heart completely. I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely couple’s wedding at Southwood Hall last year and before that had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session for them and a new family member in the shape of an adorable baby girl. Still they took a winters day and warmed it up, the sun came out, the skies raiment of grey clouds disappeared, and we had fun chatting and taking photographs. The couple even having a cheeky glass of champagne or two ahead of staying at the Hall for a couple of nights in the cosy Cart Shed.

When we headed out of Southwood’s grounds only to find that the local usually quiet country lanes were instantly transformed into the M25, we still had great fun photographing beaming smiles even through the windows of speeding motorists. I hope you like the photographs and will consider me when you’re looking for a Norwich Photographer.

Every year my lifestyle photography gift vouchers are popular, and particularly so for clients who’ve already had a session with me and wish to buy one for someone they know as a gift.

The vouchers themselves usually incorporate the provision of a lifestyle family session and this usually lasts up to 2 hours and takes place at anywhere in the lovely county of Norfolk. A popular choice is to travel to a lovely natural setting for a session but I also often conduct portrait sessions at client’s own homes particularly if very young children or babies are involved. Extra travel to the popular Suffolk Coast is usually a little extra as is travel into Cambridgeshire which is another location I serve.

From each session I normally produce 50-100 edited images and these are placed onto a secure online gallery for the recipient family to view at their leisure. From the gallery client’s can choose to buy whole image collections which are presented “ready for print” on a USB stick in a presentation box. The images on the USB are accompanied by a HD slideshow presentation for those of us who’d like to relive the fun of a session on the big screen. The gallery also allows you to purchase prints, canvas prints, and framed prints and I always invite client’s to share the gallery password with family who can also purchase prints and products should they wish.

If you’d like to purchase a voucher for a loved one, whether partner, family member or friend get in touch and I’ll send out a voucher today!

One of the things I’m often really privileged to see during family portrait sessions is a few firsts. Last year I saw a young man take his first unaided steps across a room to reach his great grandmother’s birthday cake. During this session it was a young lady walking for the first time with only the aid of her older brother.

Soft level beach sand and a sense of fun and adventure inspired the little ladies ability to walk only with her brother. Mum and Dad and myself watched on as these siblings managed to achieve a great goal for them both, the joy was palpable and the fun was unmitigated, and written all over the little ladies face:-)

We had a great session, enjoyed some sunshine, adventure in the woods and on a North Norfolk beach and ate up two hours in no time at all. It’s important to remember it’s not always all about just a portrait photograph but a portrait photograph of people interacting and having fun and acting naturally.

If you’d like a natural portrait photography session get in touch and remember you can always buy a voucher for a session.

I love my work, sometimes essentially because I get the excuse to be a big kid as a Norwich Family Photographer. This recent session involved everything that makes children, however old they may be, smile.

If you want to see natural portrait photographs, full of personality, fun and smiles, then head to the woods in Autumn. Children love the woods because they can explore, have a little adventure and of course have fun. On this occasion I took out three children and their mum to a lovely deciduous wood with a lovely path and great areas to explore and have fun with.

The session was very much less about trying to get the children together with mum for photographs and more about some very distinct personalities enlivened by their environment. It was like shooting completely reportage photographs of this little family simply because of the preoccupation with the adventure at hand and because I’ve photographed the family on numerous other occasions: they’re very comfortable with being photographed. Hopefully these photographs show what an adventurous group they are as upon entering the woods I had to bargain that the children would let me and mum catch up once they’d expended some of their boundless energy.

The colours of autumn, the adventure of fallen trees and of course the outgoing nature of the subjects and their relaxed front of camera attitude made this a really fun session and no doubt a great record of several hours of fun in an autumnal wood.

If you’re looking for a Norwich family photographer and fancy getting out and about then please get in touch.
