Baby Photographer: Family Photography in Norfolk

I’m not a newborn baby photographer but prefer to photograph babies when they reach 6 months +. Why you may ask, well for me once you hit six months you get great facial expressions, smiles and importantly your baby can often sit up unaided which makes a big difference when photographed with siblings and family members. It also means that during the shoot you can either head outdoors or stay at home and record some of the baby’s home environment which like your child itself changes very quickly as they grow.

This session last year took me to Holkham beach in North Norfolk to meet up with doting mum, aunty and grandmother to one lucky little lady. During a lovely relaxed session we photographed on sand dunes (out of the strong wind that was blowing down the beach), and in the woods. Mum wanted lots of Norfolk’s landscape in the images so I duly obliged 🙂 The combined effort of all the adults to encourage smiles didn’t always work on the day, but we were rewarded still with some lovely facial expressions which are part of the attraction of photographing babies of this age as they learn to react facially to aunty playing with her favourite toy etc. In fact it seemed for a while that Grandmother had the magic touch and everyone else would have to try harder 🙂

We had a great time though and captured some images that have been treasured by all concerned and no doubt in future years will be appreciated by the little lady concerned. Mum’s laughter at the predicament of lots of effort being made to try and make a smile appear failing is one of my favourites as it’s countered by baby’s bemused expression. Great times…
