I don’t usually do that many shoots for child modelling portfolios but on this occasion relished the opportunity to meet up with a family I’ve spent numerous occasions with- photographing a wedding, and maternity and family sessions. It was a great chance to catch up and to produce some photographs for a young lady who’s already taking to the stage and keen to try her hand at modelling.
We planned a session involving some studio style images produced in the home setting using portable backdrops and lighting equipment before heading outdoors to take some natural shots in a natural setting. It’s quite intimidating for a young person to be the sole person in front of a camera for the first time and so we took the studio session slowly watching her confidence grow as the session went on. We then headed outdoors, I always love the great outdoors as you can generally relax in an outdoor setting much more easily than indoors. With a strong winter sun and some local flooding we opted to head to the woods to obtain some natural backdrops and relief from the quite a lot of the sun’s glare and hard shadows.
In taking the shots I was looking not just for a standard modelling smile which can be seen in most portfolios but to also provide a good range of expressions which with growing confidence our model was very able to provide.
If you’d like a session do get in touch? I’m glad to say that with these photographs to evidence her talent this young model has signed up to a number of modelling agencies.
