Clients are often a little reluctant to head out to have photographs taken, there’s the fear that you’ll look a bit silly with a photographer tagging along. As an alternative I’m often asked to photograph family’s at their homes but I’m always cautious of doing so for two reasons.
The first reason is that going somewhere unfamiliar particularly when you go for a walk often acts as a great stimulus for adventure and activity and then of course smiles and fun particularly for children. The second is that the home and garden environment sometimes isn’t particularly suitable for portraits. Even when you do have a very beautiful garden as was the case with the following shoot, you sometimes don’t quite have the variety of landscape to keep children entertained for quite long enough and often you might be limited in the number of different backgrounds that can be used for photographs particularly if a bit of bright sun limits the suitable angles at which subjects can be photographed in a natural way.
We started this shoot at the very beautiful garden of the children’s grandparents but soon discovered that we had exhausted the photographic potential of the garden. No worry though as the family knew a great little woodland only a stones throw away that was full of bluebells in flower. Cue a quick car journey and a bit of an adventure for the girls with Grandad and mum through the woods. Our additional little foray added more variety to the photographs provided to the family and I discovered a brand new beautiful place to take families interested in using the beautiful Norfolk scenery as a backdrop.
I hope you like a few of the photographs from the session.
🙁 Well done
